The Emergency Department at Gatonde District Hospital provides immediate care for life-threatening conditions and urgent medical needs. It operates 24 and serves as the first point of contact for trauma cases, obstetric emergencies, severe infections, and critically ill patients from across the district. Staffed by trained clinicians, nurses, and emergency responders, the department offers rapid assessment, stabilization, and resuscitation. It works closely with the ambulance service to ensure timely referrals from health centers and community settings. Despite challenges such as high patient volume and limited resources, the emergency unit plays a crucial role in saving lives and improving health outcomes in Gatonde.
